This motorcycle
tour to Everest Base camp is designed for the motorcyclist with
a sprit of adventurer! The roads you travel will vary from easy
riding on asphalt highways, reasonable gravel and dirt roads to
unscheduled detours that will require long distance and some
off-road riding experience. The adventure begins in Lhasa, the
capital of Tibet. The journey will be a high-altitude adventure,
including several mountain passes at over 5000 meters! We'll
spend time traveling in the shadow of the Himalayas, with a once
in a lifetime opportunity to ride up to the base camp of
Everest, where climbers begin their ascent of the world's
tallest mountain. Tibet is a land rich in history, and many of
the ancient temples, monasteries and palaces will be on our path
through this beautiful country. If you are looking for history,

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1 Flight
to Lhasa
Arrive in Chengdu or Kunming to get Tibet permit before
travelling to Lhasa. Flight journey to Lhasa, met and taken to
your hotel, rest of the afternoon you may rest and get
acclimatize high altitude. (D)
Day 2 Lhasa acclimatization Day
We will visit Potala Palace was built in 1645 about 50 years by
Dalai Lama Lobsang Gyatso and one of the most beautiful
architecture in the world, long 400 meters, wide 350 meters and
height 13th floors. Moreover total room is 1,000 rooms. Jokhang
Temple that was built for celebration of marriage of Songten
Gambo (King of Tibet) with Princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty,
since before 1,300. Free time around the Barkhor Street. (B,L)
Day 3 Lhasa acclimatization Day
In the morning, we will visit Drepung monastery which was one of
the largest Gelug monasteries of Tibet and was founded in 1416
by Jamyang choge, one of the Tsongkhapa's main disciples. We
will also visit Sera Monastery which was founded in 1419 by
Jamchen chojey. The highlight is the Monks debate n the
afternoon. (B,L)
Day 4 Lhasa - Gyangtse (258KM, 6 hours)
We meet our bikes and do a short test ride. We leave Lhasa
for bikes Yumdrok Lake, the second largest lake in Tibet, we
climb up to Gambala mountain and have a great view of Yumdrok
lake in the background of 7111 meter Ninkin Kangsar Mountain. We
ride onto Nagartse near the first snow-covered foothills of the
Himalayas and onward over the 5,100 m Karo La Pass to Gyangtse.
We will visit the Gyangtse Dzong, the old fortress of the town.
Time allows we also visit the Buddhist Pelkhor Monastery was
built in 1427 with a Nepalese influence and is known as the
monastery of the ten thousand paintings. We take the final 1.5
hour ride to Shigatse, which is the second largest city in
Tibet. (B,L)
Day 5 Gyangtse - Tingri (360KM, 6 hours)
We will head for Shigatse to get travel permit, and then drive
to Lhatse. It is a small town where you can take lunch. We will
reach Shegar and if the weather is clear enough then on the way
down to shegar you will view the Mt, Everest in the distance. (B,L)
Day 6 Dingri - Everest Base Camp -Tingri (235KM)
Ride cross the Pang La we arrive at Rongbuk monastery, from
Rongbuk Monastery, we can choose to take park shuttle vehicles
or hike to base camp. At the base camp, we can enjoy the view
and take breathtaking photos. In the afternoon, we return
to Lhatse.(B,L)
Day 7 Tingri - Shigatse (240 km, 5 hours)
An entire day of motorbike riding gets us back to Shigatse,
where we take a break. On the way we enjoy the once more
breathtaking scenery of Tibet from our motorbikes. The afternoon
is free.(B,L)
Day 8 Shigatse - Namtso Lake (320 km, 6 hours)
This will be a long and rewarding day of riding. The trip is
fully rewarded when we arrive at Lake Namtso. We reach the
largest salt lake in Tibet in the late afternoon. We spend a
night in a tented guesthouse by the shore of the lake. For those
energetic ones you may take a stroll around the Tashidor
peninsula. (B,L)
Day 9 Namtso Lake to Lhasa (230 km, 6 hours)
We ride back to Lhasa via another road with its fantastic
panoramas to Lhasa. We ride on quieter roads through the
Lhundhrub valley with its farms and pastures. Upon arrive in
Lhasa we check in the hotel and celebrate out adventure with a
beer, or maybe two ! (B,L)
Day 10 Lhasa Onwards
Trip ends after breakfast. (B)
